Advisory is an essential component of our program. It provides support to optimize each student’s academic and emotional success in school. Advisory meets every day. Students participate in a range of activities in advisory. They read several days each week and are expected to have a book with them at all times. They also participate in discussions about issues within and outside the school community, work on study and organizational skills, and are involved in community-building activities. Students exchange weekly letters with their advisors. Each student is expected to read a minimum of twenty-five books and complete twenty hours of community service annually. Advisory is a credit-bearing course and is graded with a numerical grade.
