Eleanor Roosevelt High School was opened in September 2002. It is the product of a grass-roots effort of parents and community leaders to establish a comprehensive, challenging high school for students on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We opened in a temporary location in Chelsea with 105 ninth graders and a staff of eight and currently ERHS has over five hundred students and over forty-five staff members. Our goal has been to cultivate an intellectually rich environment where we are all committed and engaged as active learners, examining and pushing our own and each others’ thinking, developing communication skills that allow for depth, clarity and expression, articulating and maintaining high standards, and establishing a culture where academic success is judged by the depth and breadth of one’s ability to question as well as his/her understanding. Eleanor Roosevelt High School has evolved over the last seven years into a highly sought out, well respected, college preparatory program. We moved to our current location in September 2003 and are proud of our state of the art facility. As of June 2008 we have proudly graduated three classes of students. Please refer to our college acceptance list for more specific information.
