Ms. Hsu began her musical training playing songs by ear on her grandmother’s Yamaha upright. She freelanced and taught privately while attending the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with distinction in music and picking up a biology major and chemistry minor along the way. Post-undergraduate experiences in Newark, New Jersey were instrumental in her decision to become a classroom teacher. She completed her master’s degree in music and music education at Columbia University, where she served as instructor of trombone.
Ms. Hsu teaches AP Music Theory, Concert Bands, Guitar, Musicianship, Musical Theatre, Health, and Advisory at ElRo. In addition to directing various extracurricular
ensembles and maintaining
Music and Arts Opportunities (upcoming auditions, scholarships, programs, tickets), she has also advised students interested in instrument engineering,
sound production, and studio lessons.
