The Law Team meets weekly to prepare for two citywide competitions. In the fall students prepare for Moot Court; an appellate case tired before a Mock Supreme Court at Fordham Law School. Students study case law and prepare an argument for their court date. Lawyers from private firms visit the school weekly to help students with their statements and explain complicated case law.
In the spring students prepare for Mock Trial, a criminal or civil case that requires students to take on the role of lawyers and witnesses. With the help of an Assistant District Attorney, students prepare opening and closing statements and direct and cross examination questions. Students also learn how to submit evidence and object during the trial.
